Excellent, above and beyond

It's honestly an unnecessary tool unless you plant ALOT of bulbs regularly. I just wanted another tool in the garden. I did use it to create the perfect holes for me to plant this season's alliums. Effective tool for sure. It's easy to use, pretty sturdy tool for my personal use. I could see leaving it in the elements will cause issues such as rust.

Works well for already tilled areas. The ground in my yard is hard and it wouldn't work very well for that. Very durable and didn't even try to brake in the ground though.

I used this to put in about fifty bulbs over the weekend and it definitely saved my back compared to using a hand trowel. The action on the handle is strong enough to hold the dirt plug in place while you move it to the side which makes the whole process a lot faster. It cuts through the sod pretty clean and the depth markings on the side are actually accurate so you do not have to guess how deep you are going. The only issue I ran into was when I hit a patch of heavy clay or a thick root since the metal is a bit thin for prying. You have to be careful not to twist the handle too hard if the ground is really packed down or dry. I found that watering the area a little bit the night before made a huge difference in how easily it pushed into the soil. After a full day of use the finish is still intact and the hinge hasn't started squeaking yet. It is a simple tool but it does exactly what it is supposed to do for seasonal planting. It fits in the hand well and does not cause a lot of cramping even after a couple hours of work in the yard. Good Value

This bulb planter is easy and lightweight. It has sharp edges to aide in digging. The handle has a spring in it to allow you to make holes wider if needed. The sides have measurements on it which makes it convenient when planting bulbs at certain depths. The material is strong and not easily bent which is good when working with thicker soil.
