Good Stuff
I like this product & it fits my purpose for outdoor use. I like that it does not contain acetone so it works well with my acrylic paintings. Goes on well & has a very nice gloss sheen. I will be buying this again & again.

Usually good stuff…
I’ve used Helmsman for years with good results. That’s why I gave it 4 stars. This batch was different, for some reason. I could NOT achieve a smooth surface on a table I was refinishing. I sanded it all off twice and started over. Usually, using the correct quality and type brush makes it an easy application, but this time I just couldn’t make it happen. I ended up using a roller. It left a slightly rough finish, but at least it’s an “evenly rough” finish. Hopefully, it will hold up. (Deck table)

Clear Fast drying No discoloration
I prefer this over any other brand due to the end result: a clean shiny glazed over with water looking piece of work. Maybe it’s just the oil based that does it I’m not sure but this product does not discolor or leave behind an orange tint. It dries quickly and It comes out very professional looking overall. To extend the life of your brush between coats put in a zip lock bag and then lacquer thinner when you are done for the day.

My chainsaw carved bear is happy
Benny the Bear, my chainsaw carved bear, was looking awfully peaked after a few years standing watch out in the elements. Benny got a bath to remove what the birds left behind, and after he dried he was treated to 3 coats. He took on a nice shine, and the application was rather forgiving of my brush strokes. Benny spent an entire summer out in the sun, and looks as good as the day he was cleaned then stained. He'll get a fresh coat in the spring.

Exterior
Initally I was reluctant to use a water based finish on a boat. I have been using it on the boat interior bright work. It seems to be holding up fairly well, putting on about 3 coats gives a good finish. It does not hold up on previous painted surfaces new wood only. Does not dry as hard as the oil poly buy the ease of use and cleanup is great. I plan on testing on a partion of exterior exposed to sun and water to see how it holds up...
