The flavor did NOT change with this new formula. Both the old and new versions of the Big 100 Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough bar have exactly the same light almond flavor. The new version is slightly less sweet, but other than that the flavors are identical. It tastes good and has no aftertaste (Of course, if you’re buying these things purely for the taste, you’ll probably prefer the Super Cookie Crunch bars). I prefer eating the new bar because the old bar was syrupy sweet and the surface of the bar was so tacky that it was sometimes difficult to peel back the wrapper. The old version wouldn’t even hold its shape; it’d bend over in my hand like it’d been left out in the sun. Also, the new formula has more protein than the old formula (30g vs 28g) and the protein appears to be the highest quality of all the Big 100 bars. Two others have a gram or two more protein, but this is the only bar that lists the proprietary V100 protein as the first ingredient. In all of the other Big 100 bars, the proprietary protein blend is further down the ingredient list, meaning that some of the 30-32 grams of protein is actually from soy and other sources. This new formula has the most V100 protein blend and appears to have the least soy. For a competitive athlete in search of quality protein, this bar is a good choice. I was initially concerned about the extra 30-50 calories and the few extra grams of fat in this new formula, but it’s been working well for me so far. The new version satiates my hunger better than the old version and serves as a better meal replacement. If I have one in place of lunch with some water I find that I'm not thinking about food again until dinner. These bars are big enough that you might sometimes find that half a bar is sufficient. If so, just cut the bar in half and put the rest in a sandwich bag until your next meal or snack. They've worked well for me both pre and post workout. If you're willing to order in bulk, you can get these directly from Met-Rx for around $1.60 per bar, shipping included. Watch for one of Met-Rx's 20% sales, and then order a large enough quantity to get free shipping (around 72 bars). Protein bars tasted very good, like to eat them while working out. Will definitely order again.

I've been purchasing these off and on since 2005. From 2005-2009 the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough were the best. I started buying these again in 2024 because I needed something quick and easy on the way to work or after I get bloodwork done. They've been great for a few years. Fast forward to 2026 and they cheapen the formula and update the box to say "New & Improved Formula". The cookie in the bar is dry and the bar tastes like cookie mixed with cardboard. The entire bar is now dry and disgusting. I posted a negative review to MET-Rx's website and they refused to publish it. The consumers are getting tired of shrinkflation and companies trying to squeeze every last penny out of us. The new formula and new bars suck. Congratulations MET-Rx. You didn't publish my negative review, but that's fine. I'll never purchase a single product of yours again.

I never leave the house without two of these - a complete meal with zero fuss and preparation. It matters when you live in an area with earthquakes every four minutes on average. Sure, we don’t actually notice 99% of them but, having two of these meal replacement bars in my ruck will be tasty when we do. If I can’t get back home for a day or four, not a big deal with plenty of water, MetRx bars and a good pair of shoes always in my ruck. I forget how many “bars” I’ve tried in the past decade of camping and hiking etc but, these are the only ones I have never gotten tired of…the churro flavor is king.

Very filling and best tasting protein bar that I’ve ever had.

I have been purchasing these Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough bars for years and love them! However recently they totally changed the product. Same name but totally different product and taste. They are not my favorite and definitely nothing like "cookie dough" like their bars before. Why change something that is not broken?

At the end of December i ordered a box of the chocolate chip cookie dough bars and they were amazing. I just reordered a box and they changed the recipe. The new bars are bigger and the bottom half has these crispy things in it and the cookie dough part on top is thinner and tastes different. I wish it showed that Met-RX changed the recipe because i wouldn't have bought them. The old recipe was sooo much better.
