Extra Loud Alarm Clock for Heavy Sleepers, Easy-to-Read LCD Display with Adjustable Alarm and Snooze (Black)

Needed an easy to read digital clock for my elderly mother. She doesn't see well. Didn't want the high price of a radio alarm clock, which she wouldn't have listened to anyway. Just wanted a NO bells and whistles simple clock. Good luck with that. Needed a small clock to fit on a small nightstand. Needed one that did not have an electrical cord - needed battery operated. Also, had to be very easy to use - easy to change the time and set the alarm and turn the alarm on/off. Alarm had to be loud enough to hear. Mom wasn't 100% mentally and she was not real familiar with these new-fangled gadgets. She always had a Big Ben windup clock, but could no longer wind one up. Looked at a zillion clocks on Amazon. Finally found this one. Inexpensive and satisfied every criteria on our list. Great clock. Weird that it uses 2 different types of batteries, but I'm not complaining. Fit the bill in every other way, and this wasn't an easy search. Nobody makes a simple, inexpensive, digital alarm clock. This is it.

Received clock quickly and adequately packaged, as expected from Amazon. Clock appears to be sturdily built; all buttons are intuitive as to use and have a satisfying feel when pushed; case appears to be resistant to the usual drops (I accidentally dropped it from four feet onto a wood floor, no crack or scratch). Nice fit & finish. Display is as seen in the picture, not backlit unless the snooze bar is depressed, so clock is not good for checking the time in a dark (bed)room. Alarm is louder than any other clock I've owned, but not "banshee" loud on the "loud" setting. Does the job, though. There is a soft vs loud setting for the alarm. The speaker is at the front of the clock, to the left of the time display. Clock requires one 9V and two AAA batteries; it has no cord to plug into the wall outlet. Batteries are not included.

This alarm clock only worked for about eight months. It was super loud when it worked, but now it just makes a meek little sound, like there's a thousand trapped souls inside trying to escape (quietly). When it worked, it was so loud that one of my dogs hated it so much that as soon as it went off, she started barking to be let into the backyard while I was trying to snooze peacefully (because if you come out of a deep sleep too quickly, you get the bends). Also, the snooze feature is all wrong. This clock snoozes in increments of FOUR minutes! You can't change it. Alarm clocks are supposed to snooze in increments of NINE minutes! Not four, nine. That's according to the U.S. Constitution, international law, the Bible, the Koran, NASCAR rules and regulations and all other controlling legal authorities. So this clock didn't work for me at all.

I purchased this Alarm Clock because the one I have had now for 15 years, which is 95% identical to this one was failing a little bit, the alarm was loosing some of the volumn. It takes 2 AA batteries and 1 9v. For the older clock the length of time the batteries lasted the first time seemed to be a long time, so on replacing them, I labeled the bottom of the clock with the replacement date. The next time it required any battery change was 4 years. From having been in the military, I prefer having a battery alarm clock. I get woken up when it's time. It makes me nauseous listening to excuses that the alarm clock didn't go off cause the electricity went out during the night and that's why someone's late for work. This is a GREAT alarm clock. It is LOUD and the viewer is bright when you want to see what time it is when woken up earlier.

I bought this alarm clock thinking that it was a "Super Loud Alarm Clock" as advertised but I think the advertising is misleading. While this alarm clock functions adequately, I would classify it as a lightweight travel alarm clock and it is no louder than any other alarm clock on the market. The two major drawbacks of this alarm clock is that the alarm is not at all louder than any other alarm clock and by no means whatsoever "Super Loud" even by the wildest stretch of the imagination and the main alarm sounds for maybe one to two minutes maximum then shuts off on its own. So, if you are a heavy sleeper, not one that jumps out of bed immediately when the alarm sounds, or one that is prone to easily falling back asleep, and you are looking for a "Super Loud Alarm Clock" and one that won't turn itself off after only 1-2 minutes then this is NOT for you. I would suggest any of the Sonic Boom alarm clocks. I've purchased all three of them, after purchasing the Westclox, and I am very pleased. They perform as advertised.

I bought the Westclox Tech 47547 Alarm Clock for my daughter who wouldn't wake up to any previous alarm clocks we tried. We were extremely worried about her not waking because if there were ever a fire she may sleep through a smoke detector. We decided to try a louder alarm clock and chose this one based upon the ratings. I set it up in her room away from her bed to ensure she had to actually wake enough to walk and turn it off! Success! She has woken every time we have set it and actually enjoys getting up on her own! The clock is extremely easy to set and control. It is not very big and runs on batteries so it would also make an excellent travel clock if needed. I would recommend this alarm clock to anyone who a traditional alarm clock does not seem to work!

If you want a loud alarm DO NOT buy this one unless you can try it out first. I have had one of these before and it worked fine which is why I ordered this one. Either they have changed the alarm on the clock or the one I got is defective because it is the softest alarm sound I have ever come across. Could not possibly wake me up.

Great little clock. The alarm is very loud but it cuts off in less than a minute. I'm a hard sleeper and sometimes it takes having an alarm going for a couple minutes to wake me. I wish the time display had a back light for nighttime use. If it's dark in the room you won't see the time. I also wish it was an electric clock instead of working off two AAA batteries and one 9 volt battery. I'm guessing a lighted time display for night use would kill the batteries quicker. I would not recommend this clock for everyday use. It would be a great travel clock since it works off batteries, is small in size, and has an alarm you can set for soft or loud. The time display screen is light grey and the digits display in black so no night use for this clock unless you have a light shining on it. If you can find the clock in the dark it does have a light button. The light is blue and doesn't fully display the time. When you release the button the light goes off. I don't like fumbling around for the clock in the dark looking for a button to press to see the time. I like rolling over and seeing the time and going back to sleep. The alarm was easy to set and the alarm sound is a series of slow to fast beeps that stop in less than a minute.

I read on the Amazon buying site that this clock was really affective being reviewed as one of the loudest one could buy. I agree its pretty good. I give the Westclox Banshee Digital Alarm Clock 4 out of 5 stars.

Wasted my 2k for this 90db s***! It doesn't ring so many times.

Uses 2 sets of batteries: one 9-volt to power the alarm's buzzer, and 2 AAA for the clock. The back light is old school, and requires you to keep pressing the bar for it to light up (would have been nice if it stayed on for a few seconds at each press of the button). Also, it does not evenly illuminate the display. If the 9V battery is not plugged in well or depleted, the alarm will not sound, but there is no indication of this! In summary, it's a really loud and reliable battery operated clock.

Its loud. Dont like the backlight, have to press a button to light up, otherwise so far so good
